Humber Child Development Centre:
Caring for Children, Educating Students

Humber operates a high-quality, non-profit, community-based child care centre for children from birth to five years, providing year-round care to 98 children and their families in fully inclusive environments. The centre is licensed through the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and receives funding through a purchase of service with the City of Toronto. Our staff consists of a Director, nineteen registered Early Childhood Educators, seven Resource Consultants and two Cooks.

Supporting Our Community

In addition to programs offered within the centres, five of our Resource Consultants work in the community to provide consultation to staff and families. We are currently providing consultative services and professional development opportunities to approximately 50 centres in North York and Etobicoke.

The Humber Child Care Centres also have a contract with the City of Toronto and as a result, are responsible for establishing professional development to support the success of more than 950 child care centres across Toronto. Two of our Resource Consultants created an extensive training calendar that is distributed twice per year. This training is specifically designed to meet the professional development needs of ECEs, Supervisors, Resource Consultants and Home Care Providers.

Partnerships

Through partnerships with families, the Humber Child Care Centres strive to meet the needs of all children by offering a variety of group activities and experiences. These centres also function as lab demonstration facilities for students within Humber's Early Childhood Education Department and the University of Guelph-Humber.
