Humber Heights – Humber's New Living Classroom

Experience nursing education where learning and living come together.

Humber Polytechnic is proud to launch Humber Heights, Humber’s New Living Classroom, a groundbreaking partnership with Schlegel Villages that transforms how students learn to care. Starting Winter 2026, Humber’s Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Practical Nursing (PN) students can choose Humber Heights in Etobicoke as their campus through OCAS, gaining hands-on experience in a real, fully operational long-term care home.

Learning in a Living Classroom

At Humber Heights, learning happens in the heart of care. Students study, and work directly within the daily operations of a long-term care home, side by side with experienced health professionals and compassionate caregivers.

This Living Classroom model, pioneered by Schlegel Villages in partnership with Humber, brings theory and practice together in a deeply human and practical way. Classrooms are located inside the care home itself, meaning students are immersed in real patient interactions, multidisciplinary teamwork, and the rhythms of community life from day one.

The result? Graduates who enter the workforce not only skilled, but confident, empathetic, and ready to make a difference.

Key Benefits:

  • Learn and practice in a live healthcare setting
  • Build confidence through continuous hands-on learning
  • Gain exposure to real patients, families, and care teams
  • Strengthen communication, empathy, and clinical judgment
