Name: Oindrilla
Program: Health Sector Regulatory Compliance
I chose Humber College because it is the first program of its kind in that it gives you a deep dive into regulatory compliance in the health care sector from pharmaceuticals to food. The combination of courses is unique and not found in any other school combining ethics, auditing, risk management, supply chain and continuous improvement. Furthermore, I had received positive feedback about the College from previous alumni in similar programs like Clinical Research and Regulatory Affairs.
I strive to gain more experience in quality assurance and compliance in various companies, importers, manufacturers and consulting firms, while building new relationships. Ideally, I would like to slowly grow into senior roles leading supplier and internal audits and running continuous improvement projects. Following that, I hope to use the experiences I gained to start a consulting firm working as an independent consultant.
The faculty has been extremely helpful in terms of completing the program and gaining my first internship. They provided me with many resources and tools to be successful such as jobs search tips, resume and LinkedIn profile creation, detailed feedback on assignments, clarifying expectations regarding assignments, relating assignments to the real world, inviting industry speakers, and enlightening us on industry trends that might dominate the future, and potential career paths (Six Sigma Professions, ASQ certified auditor).
I enjoyed our independent study class where we got to see how various regulations, process mapping, risk assessment and management tools were used to solve different challenges by students interested in different industries.
Yes, I would recommend this program to anybody who has experience in the health care sector and is looking to play a more active or integral role in a company’s operations. This program helps graduates develop the mindset required for companies to improve their operations and comply with law and ensure the safety and well-being of their consumers as well as their reputation among their customers for example the brand manager of a product made by a contract development and manufacturing organization.
