Why did you choose Humber?
I chose Humber College after attending the open house. I then applied to the Fire Services Diploma program. The program coordinator and all of the instructors were extremely welcoming and motivating.
What are your career aspirations?
My career aspirations are to become a firefighter.
How have the faculty helped you on your road to reaching your goals?
All of the instructors have used their own life experiences to offer guidance and help to every student. Every instructor was open to spending extra time with each student and staying after class in order for students to fully understand the concepts learned in class.
What would you say has been the single best learning experience in the program you are in?
Creating a mock fire escape plan for the Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic at Humber College has been the best learning experience due to the high level of “hands-on” time that was encouraged for the assignment.
What elements of the program are best preparing you for your career?
The “hands-on” aspects of the program and team work required to have success are two elements that are best preparing me for the fire service.
Would you recommend this program to others, and why?
I would highly recommend this program to students looking to enter into the Fire Service World. Attending the Fire Services Diploma after high school prepared me for Pre-Service and allowed me to grasp a better idea of the concepts learned throughout Pre-Service.
