I currently work as a Technologist, in Formulation Development (an area of product development). My day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on the trials that need to be done. I help with formulations and processes of pharmaceutical drugs for clinical and pre-clinical trials.
I knew of Humber College and their good reputation during my time in secondary school. The more I looked into the programs offered, I found myself drawn into the Biotechnology program. It aligned with the career path I wanted to do in the future.
This program allowed me to gain hands-on experience and knowledge of the field, which became really useful in my first job. As well, the professors who work in their respective fields were able to give me insights in how it is in the current industry.
I would say, build real connections with your professors and classmates, because you never know who you'll be working with in the future. It's good to have these connections too so you can learn from them, learn more about the field, and vice-versa.
