Before Your Placement

Most placements in the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness programs require the following before you begin placement:

  • Medical Requirements - including immunization records and laboratory blood tests
  • Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check - completed through the police service where you live and not through a third party provider
  • Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate
  • Respiratory Mask Fit Certificate

Pre-Placement Clearance

Receiving clearance to attend placement is obtained from the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness, Room K216.

In order to receive clearance to attend your placement:

  1. Complete all pre-placement medical and non-medical requirements.
  2. Once you have completed all requirements, use this online link to book an appointment with a clearance officer for pre-placement clearance. There is a $40 fee for the clearance process payable in the Clearance Office. It is paid once per academic year and is payable by debit, MasterCard or Visa.

Medical and Non-Medical Placement Requirements by Program

Search for your program for the appropriate pdf downloads. Please note that you must complete steps in the order outlined in the pdf downloads.

In-person Placement and/or Mask Fit Test

Students who will be doing their Clearance and/or Respiratory Mask fit test will need to book an in-person appointment. The following steps must be followed:

  1. Select the appropriate Medical and Non-medical forms for your program.
  2. Ensure that all documents and forms are completed and collated as required.
  3. Book an in-person appointment.
  4. If you require both the Mask fit testing and Clearance, book only one appointment under the Appointment Focus “Placement Clearance and Mask Fit”.
  5. If only Mask fit testing is required then ensure that you book your appointment with Respiratory Mask Fit Testing ONLY for your appointment.
  6. Mask Fit Testing and in-person clearance appointments will be conducted in Rm K216.
  7. The $40.00 fee for Mask Fit testing and the $40.00 fee for in person clearance appointments are paid with Interac, Visa or Mastercard. Failure to show for an appointment means you will be charged a $20.00 No-Show fee. Booking multiple appointments and showing up to only one appointment, you will be charged a $20.00 No-Show fee for the additional appointments that you do not show up for.
