Compulsory Courses

FSQE 100 FPPA and POA Foundations
 
This course is the first in a series of three (3) that covers all required theory components outlined in the NFPA 1031 Certified Fire Inspector Level 1 handbook. The successful completion of all three (3) courses will be deemed as equivalent to achieving the minimum standards for certification as prescribed by this handbook.

FSQE 101 Ontario Fire Code Essentials
 
This is the second course required for the NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner certificate. Topics include: Introduction to the Building Code Act, the Ontario Building Code and the Ontario Fire Code organization, seven principles of life safety, and minimum performance requirements for life safety in existing buildings.

FSQE 102 Fire Inspector Principles and Practice – Conducting a Fire Inspection
 

This is the final course in the NFPA 1031 Standard Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner certificate. It prepares learners in the following areas:

  • Fire inspector, building construction and fire growth
  • Performing an inspection and understanding plans
  • Fire detection and fire suppression systems
  • Electrical and HVAC hazards, storage and handling
  • Recognizing hazardous conditions involving hazardous processes and operations
  • Safety practices and records
