Please note: Registration is per course, not for the full program. Please check course specific pages online for further prerequisites and cost.
Prior experience is not required to register for any courses. For more advanced programs like Critical Care Nursing and Emergency Nursing, prior experience in the field is recommended.
For a 15-week course:
Please check the “Verification of Registration” email that was sent by the Office of the Registrar for the exact drop and withdraw dates for your course(s).
All theory courses offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness Continuing Education Department require the achievement of 65% or higher to successfully pass the course. Grades for clinical courses are assessed as satisfactory or unsatisfactory.
For online evaluations (through Blackboard, Evolve, or any other learning management system), please note the following policy:
If, at any time during your electronic evaluation, you experience technical difficulties, you must contact the Continuing Education Program Assistant at 416.675.6622 ext. 4868 on the day and time of the examination. If no one responds, please leave a message with your name, student number and contact information as well as the course name, the name of your instructor, the quiz or test with which you are experiencing difficulty, and the specific difficulty you are encountering. You will be contacted to arrange a solution. This must occur on the day you are taking the evaluation (alternate arrangements cannot be made after the due date).
Students may choose to submit an Off-Campus Proctor Request Form. Students must secure a proctor at a registered college/university and that proctor must have a business email address. Students are responsible for completing the Off-Campus Proctor Form. Requests must be submitted two months prior to the final exam date. Students must inform their instructor that they are requesting an off-campus proctor.
For complete details, please see the Open Learning website.
Students are expected to adhere to Humber’s Academic Regulations, the Continuing Education Department Academic Policies and Procedures, the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness Professional Suitability Policy, the Faculty of Health Sciences & Wellness Academic Integrity Policy, the Standards of Conduct in the Learning Environment, and the Charter of Students’ Rights and Responsibilities. Please go to Policies & Procedures for more information.
The PLAR process is designed for people who have acquired significant knowledge and skills outside formal college classrooms. The PLAR process identifies, evaluates, and recognizes what a student already knows and is able to do for the purpose of awarding academic credit. (Canadian Labour Force Development Board, 1999).
For more details and to begin the PLAR process, please visit Transfer Options website.
All classes (online and face-to- face) use a learning management system called Blackboard. The tools within Blackboard support student learning and engagement through the dissemination of course information and learning materials and by providing access to various communication tools. In addition to instructors sharing course material and resources, assessment submission and other evaluations may be administered in Blackboard. Use from course to course may vary and your instructor will clarify any expectations for use of the course site.
Students will have access to their blackboard site three (3) days before the start of their first class. To login, go to learn.humber.ca and enter you user name and password. For more information on how to use Blackboard, please click here.
Please note: Final grades are NOT posted on Blackboard; they are only posted on MyHumber.
Required and supplementary textbooks are posted on course pages on Humber’s website. Textbooks are also listed on course outlines that can be accessed through student blackboard sites as well as the course offerings document which can be accessed on the Continuing Education, Health Sciences page; Look for Course Offerings > Search CE Courses.
To receive important information about clinical and begin the enrollment process, please email CEnursingclinical@humber.ca. In your email, please include:
After this information is submitted, students will be informed of the process for clinical practicum courses and will be sent the forms that must be completed and returned prior to beginning placement. Students will then be registered and required to pay.
Final grades are accessed through a student’s myHumber account, NOT Blackboard. When logged into MyHumber, select Student > Student Records > Final Grades. Make sure to select the term in which the course was completed.
