In Clinical Internship 2, students continue transition from classroom learning to clinical application. The emphasis of the second clinical practice is on TCM diagnosis and combination of acupuncture with herbal treatments. Students apply knowledge, skills and critical thinking to the practice of acupuncture. They practice Aseptic Needling Procedure and measures of acupuncture risk management following the acupuncture safety guidelines. When in direct patient contact, students practice making a TCM diagnosis based on the meridian system, locate acupuncture points, compose acupuncture formulas, and perform various acupuncture techniques on patients. At the end of the practicum, students successfully demonstrate the knowledge, skills and judgement required for practicing acupuncture independently.
