| Humber's unique Pharmacy Technician diploma program offers low student-teacher ratios with experts who continue to work in the field. You will learn about relevant legislation, physiology, pharmacotherapeutics, customer care, health care ethics, hospital and retail software systems, inventory management, hospital practice, and infection control. Emphasis throughout the program is the application of theoretical knowledge to practical skills. Students interact with guest speakers, tour pharmaceutical manufacturers, wholesale distributors and hospitals, and have opportunities to attend conferences.
Field/Clinical Placement
Students will complete two unpaid four-week internships under the supervision of a pharmacist/technician after semester four: one in a retail/community pharmacy and one in a hospital pharmacy setting. Students, with faculty guidance, decide on a community placement in a location/city of the student's choosing. The program co-ordinator arranges the hospital pharmacy placement.
Additional Admission Requirements
Students in programs or occupations involving direct contact with vulnerable persons are required to undergo a Police Record Check. Refer to Admission Requirements
