Pharmacy Technician Bridging Courses

Prior Learning Assessment and Review (PLAR)

The PLAR process is designed for individuals who have acquired significant knowledge and skills outside formal college classrooms.  PLAR is available for three of the bridging courses; Product Preparation, Pharmacology and Management of Drug Distribution as a challenge exam (a portfolio is not required).

PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) is a  "process of identifying, assessing and recognizing what a person knows and can do for the purpose of awarding academic credit". (Canadian Labour Force Development Board, 1999).

You are asked to review the course outline and associated learning outcomes to assess your knowledge in the course that you would like to PLAR.  Course outlines are available on the Pharmacy Technician Bridging Course Overview page.  There is no PLAR for PHAR 310.

Note:  There are no review courses to prepare you for the PLAR exams as they test knowledge that you have gained through experience and continuing education.

If you feel that you have sufficient knowledge/practice in these subject areas then you may apply for PLAR.    http://plar.humber.ca/
